PFATT offering for July

Garden of Stones

Standing barefoot at the gate of a cemetery, this red headed witch is beckoning you in with a subtle curving of her right index finger, sassy little smile and innocent green eyes.   She holds an oracle glass in her left hand and is ready to tell you about your future if you dare.

This vignette stands about 10” tall on a 8” wooden base.  The witch figure, snakes, skull and grave stone have been sculpted from prosculpt clay and hand painted.  A metal archway is covered in natural elements as well as the pathway that she stands on.

Designed and created by Susie Krichbaum

Halloweenie Frank

I started creating "Halloweenies" in 2015 for a Halloween Show I was exhibiting at. They turned out to be a big selling item and I’m happy to say will be in the Fall 2016 edition of Art Doll Quarterly.

“Halloweenies” are little miniature semi- posable dolls that are little kiddos with masks on, each are 6" tall seated and about 10" tall with legs outstretched.  They are the little ones who come to your door with their little trick or treat buckets expecting goodies.  The side view picture of the shows the “mask” attached to a little kids face.

Hand sculpted with paperclay and proscuplt, then carefully painted and dressed.  A hang tag with the following description is attached to each “Halloweenie”.

Halloweenies
We are the wee ones
that got all dressed up and yelled
“Trick or Treat”
on your door steps

Spring items

Bunny Makes a Wish Welcome Banner
17” X 30” hanging banner is perfect for inside or outside decorating.  Its painted surfaces are protected with polyurethane and floor wax to insure weather resistance.   Hang it by its wire in your patio or covered entry way.
All of my work is created on raw heavy weight canvas.   I prepare the canvas for paint by preshrinking the fabric and then machine sewing a generous hem with mitered corners.  The decorated side will have two to three coats of the base color before the designing process even begins. Sanding is done between coats and finally the design is painted. After paint cures I apply several coats of polyurethane to both sides. This will protect from daily use and moisture. The finishing touch is rubbing on and buffing off some Johnson's floor wax for extra protection.

This is a hand painted design by Willow Hollow Creations by Susie Krichbaum

It's only just begun!!!

Third layer of base color.....now we wait.
Waiting for paint to dry, not one of my strengths.  I'm so excited to start designing this piece.

I'm doing a little time travel here, going back to the early 1800's when the coverlet was a useful and decorative possession to lay over the bed.  So instead of a weaving loom, I will weave with my paint brush and create a floorcloth/oyle cloth that mimics this time period. I am always inspired by quilt and coverlet patterns and don't set aside the time to create them.

This is going to be a Primitive Folk Art Trinkets and Treasures Marketplace exclusive.  I'm really honored to have been asked to be April's featured artist, and I hope you all will stop by PFATT on April 10th to check out all the amazing art. There is something for everyone.

Fall has arrived

Even in SWFL Fall has arrived.  Since we don't see drastic weather changes in Florida for each new season, we have to improvise.  I think we have to be more creative to bring that feeling into our homes.  This is why creating fall items for interior decor is my absolute favorite thing to do.  I could stay decorated in warm colors all year round.

This table runner can be created in any length you would like.  I normally sell the following lengths:

30" X 15"  = $35.00
40" X 15"  = $45.00
50" X 15" =  $55.00
plus shipping

If you are interested or have questions please contact me at Susiewhc@gmail.com

Enjoy Fall how ever you celebrate!

Don't be afraid of a floor cloth!

Floor cloths are such a hard thing to get people to buy into.  They worry about walking on them! Well I can tell you that I have been using my floor cloths in my home for many years and they are super durable.  They add a burst of color to your room, easy to maintain and hard to ruin.

I am so happy to say that I just received a large order for floor cloths today.  So happy about this.  They will be making a journey to an Rhode Island Primitive Shoppe.

Floor Cloth with Diamond Colonial Design

$60.00 plus 18.00 shipping

2' X 3' floor cloth in black, heritage red and bread box

Floor cloths are very durable, easy to clean and pet friendly. They are a wonderful way to add more art to your home....art you can walk on. I personally use floor cloths in most rooms of my home, including under the kitchen table. They all still look great!

I use a heavy weight canvas that I prepare for paint by preshrinking the fabric and hemming with mitered corners. These floor cloths lay flat.

I prim both sides of floor cloth and add two coats of base color to decorated side. Sanding is done between coats and finally the design is painted. After paint cures I apply several coats of polyurethane to both sides. This will protect from moisture and traffic. The finishing touch is rubbing on and buffing off some Johnson's floor wax for extra protection.

You will receive care and installation instructions with your order.

Thank you for stopping,
